New children’s television show to spread Gospel message

Children around the world will soon be able to meet Earl the Emu, a television character who will preach the love of the Gospel through Biblical stories, according to the Jackson Sun (TN). Following the success of such all-time classics as Sesame Street, which taught the alphabet and numbers to children through colourful episodes, the producers of Earl the Emu hope to teach the story of Jesus’s love through adventures involving the Bible.

The show has been picked up by Trinity Broadcast to be shown at 8 a.m. Saturday and will be broadcast to Europe, Asia, and Africa via satellite. The Saturday time corresponds to the favourable time when many children would be awake watching Saturday morning cartoons.

Pat Winston, the author of the book, on which the show is based is very happy, "Our message of God's love will reach more people than we ever dreamed possible," Winston said. "This is a great blessing from God. I see the program as a little Sunday School class on TV". She also expressed her hope of the show reaching many young minds around the world who have not yet heard the Gospel.

Among the countries to be broadcast to include China, Japan, the Philippines, Hong Kong, North Korea, South Korea, India, Saudi Arabia, France, Russia and Spain.

"At the close of each segment, I tell them that God loves them and we do too," Winston said.
