New “100-Minute Bible” Launched at Canterbury Cathedral

A new version of the Bible has been released, which has been promoted as being possible to read in less than two hours. The 100-Minute Bible has been launched as a page-turner, according to the BBC, for those that do not have time to read the full version of the Bible.

The latest Bible version has been unveiled at Canterbury Cathedral. Rev Michael Hinton, who compiled the newest Bible said, “We have majored on Jesus, because he is the central figure in the Bible.”

Another consultant on the book, Rev John Pritchard, the Bishop of Jarrow, according to the BBC stated, “I don't think most people know the Bible very well. This is an attempt to say, 'Look, there's a great story here - let's get into it and let's not get put off by the things that are going to be the sub-plot. Let's give you the big plot'.”

The Bible has had more than 11,000 copies created, which are approximately the size of a notebook, and will be given out to churches and schools across the UK.

Rev Hinton has taken more than two years to compile the book and to cut down the Bible from its traditional 66 books into the 100-Minute version.

The reverend has stated that readers would of course be able to find the familiar Bible stories. The Rt Rev Hinton said, “We majored on the ones that have entered the common consciousness, like Noah's Ark, Jonah and so on.”

The publishers of the 100-Minute Bible has stated its expectation that just like the traditional versions, the latest book should be a bestseller.

The proprietor of the 100-Minute Press, Len Budd said, “This is a book for adults and has been written in a style to encourage readers to keep turning the pages, but without resorting to any literary gimmicks.”
