'NBA 2K16' February locker codes to release at calendar events?

While the release of updates and roster changes for "NBA 2K16"s has been consistent to date, the renewal of locker codes seems to be sporadic at best. Observers are saying that for this month, 2K Sports might be looking at calendar events to release February locker codes.

According to The Bit Bag, no news on new locker codes has been announcedyet by 2K Sports, along with parent company 2K Games. The last "event-themed" lockers codes that were issued to players were reportedly those that unlocked special Marvel-themed merchandise in-game. Reportedly, the bonus items were tie-ins to the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War" movie.

However, the industry follower mentioned that the publisher might be thinking of celebrating calendar events like Valentine's and the Chinese New Year by releasing the February locker codes. Should this happen, fans will be looking at a mid-February release for the new codes.

Meanwhile, Parent Herald said that 2K Sports might also be thinking of an in-game NBA-related event for this month's codes. According to the industry follower, the current "#DubTheVote" event is looking to be most current in-game tie-up for this month's release of locker codes.

Locker codes are not that essential to "NBA 2K16," particularly for most hardcore hoops sim players. However, the codes do provide side entertainment and bonus items for collectors. Currently, codes for free items such as bonus 500 virtual currency (SHOOT2MUCH500) up to 1,000 VC (2KTVPOSTSEASON) are available for players, which they can then use to boost their characters and teams' rankings and stats. Meanwhile, there are also locker codes that unlock bonus in-game items such as collector's edition of shoes, jerseys, and shirts.

Locker codes can also be used to unlock previously unplayable NBA superstars such as Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and other NBA greats, as well as collector's editions of current superstars in the NBA roster.
