The Phoenix Suns know for a fact that they have an unhappy player in the roster in Markieff Morris but like any other team, the only way they will agree to part with him is if they get something of equal value in return.
It could be in the form of a player/s plus maybe a draft pick/s. Whatever that may be, the Suns are likely to agree to release Markieff only if such is the case.
It is no secret that Morris has aired his rant of wanting to be traded and a couple of teams are looking. The Houston Rockets and the Toronto Raptors could be potential destinations, but it remains to be seen whom both teams could give up to acquire the disgruntled 25-year-old player from Philadelphia.
Morris sought a trade after the team dealt away his twin brother Marcus to the Detroit Pistons earlier this year. It will be recalled that the brothers agreed to a pay cut just as long as they kept together in Phoenix. But in the NBA, things like that are bound to end at some point and so it did. And now Markieff wants out.
The Boston Celtics could be another team where Morris could land, seeing that the team has forwards who could be used as trade bait. That list includes Jared Sullinger, Kelly Olynyk, or Tyler Zeller, players who could be a big help to the Suns in place of Morris.
The Suns did mention NBC Sports that they have no intention of trading Morris, a gamble as they hope Morris would soften his stance and stay on with the team.
But just in case all the teams mentioned make an offer, the Celtics could be an ideal destination.
For Morris, he had already made it known before that he wanted to play for Houston because of James Harden and for Toronto to play alongside Kyle Lowry.
