"Mr. Robot" season 2 delved even deeper into fsociety and the personalities of Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) and Elliot (Rami Malek). At the end of the season, it was revealed that Tyrell (Martin Wallstrom) was a real person, not just a figment of Elliot's imagination. It was also revealed that Leon (Joey Badass) had returned for reasons that are still unknown.

While Elliot was fighting to survive, the end of the episode showed Leon approaching Trenton (Sunita Mani) and Mobley (Azhar Khan) when Mobley figured out how to undo the hacking event. Speaking to Variety, series' creator Sam Esmail revealed that Leon's presence will be an important focal point season 3.

"Here comes Leon, who's definitely an agent of the Dark Army. His intentions remain to be seen. We'll definitely get into it in the third season," he explained.

He then stated that the ambiguity of the show will remain as long as Elliot is the main character since the viewers follow his perspective. Esmail explained that he wanted the viewers to be just as confused as Elliot, and when he believed in something, he said he wanted the audience to believe in it as well until it was proven otherwise.

This may also be related to the way Elliot plans to deal with Leon and the rest of the Dark Army in season 3.

The show has received multiple accolades for its two-season run. One of the most recent notable ones is an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series won by Malek for his role in the show. Given its popularity and critical acclaim, it is a no-brainer that the show was renewed. Regarding the show's potential release date, however, reports state that if the show follows the pattern of the first two seasons, then it is possible that "Mr. Robot" season 3 will premiere in either June or July 2017.
