New updates about USA Network's surprise hit, "Mr. Robot," have been released as the show is heading for its season 2 premiere this year.

A new character has joined the series and she will be portrayed by actress, Grace Gummer. According to Variety, the 29-year-old daughter of Academy Award-winner, Meryl Streep, will take on the role of Dominque "Dom" DiPierro, a young FBI agent who will investigate the Evil Corp Hack that was spearheaded by Elliot (Rami Malek). She will dig deeper into the case and is determined to find other members of the fsociety.

As expected, it's going to be a challenge for Elliot as the FBI gets involved in the hacking case. After all, Malek did tease that things will get harder for his character this season. Malek also mentioned that the show appears to have the ability to anticipate the events happening in the real world, and that more of that will come in the next season.

"Look there's definitely a fallout from what happened in season 1 and that will be broached," Malek said on Friday during Entertainment Weekly's SAG Awards party, Entertainment Weekly reported.

"It's kind of sad and disturbing how we've been able to anticipate events that have happened in our culture in the world so I assume that that will continue to happen," he continued.

Malek also shared how much he's prepared for the next season. As already reported, "Mr. Robot" season 2 will focus more on Elliot's psychosis, so the actor has been talking with the show psychologist even more to prepare himself.

It's also going to be a rough year for the cast members as Malek revealed that they will be shooting all episodes as if they are working on a movie, "Just jumping around from episode to episode, which seems very daunting," he explained.

An exact premiere date for "Mr. Robot" season 2 has not been set, but rumors have it that the show will likely return sometime in June or July this year.
