2016 is an exciting year because as soon as the calendar turns, three movies will hit the silver screens, promising moviegoers a great mix of genres all within the first two months of the year.

On Feb. 12, 2016, the much-awaited sequel to Ben Stiller's 2001 comedy flick "Zoolander" will finally be launched. "Zoolander 2" will have an interesting cast, starting with Penelope Cruz who was seen on set rolling in the dirt with Stiller. There are no details, however, on what role she will be playing in the film. It will also see the reappearance of Hansel, the character played by Owen Wilson, according to Skynews.

The plot of the film sees Derek (Stiller) and Hansel (Owen) continuing on with their modeling career until a competitor shows up and tries to pull down their business.

Kung Fu Panda 3 DreamWorks Animation

"Kung Fu Panda 3" will also be seeing an early 2016 debut, opening on Jan. 29. The new "Kung Fu Panda" installment will again hear the voices of Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Seth Rogen, among many others.

The plot of the film will see Po having a reunion with his father named Li. The dragon warrior also discovers a secret paradise where many of his kind are still living. But a new threat looms ahead as a new villain is sweeping across China, leaving dead kung fu masters on his wake. Po will end up recruiting his panda brothers and train them to face this vicious enemy.

"Deadpool" is another movie to hit the screens in early 2016. The movie will see Ryan Reynolds in the lead, reprising his role from "X-men Origins: Wolverine."

Although Deadpool's appearances in the past have been blurry, this time around he will be getting a proper story. The antihero is a former Special Forces operative that is subjected to a rogue experiment giving him accelerated healing powers and more. It is here that he develops an alter ego and becomes a deadly mercenary.

"Deadpool" will open in U.S. theatres on Feb. 12.
