Artist and Spawn creator Todd McFarlane finally gave the go-signal to NetherRealm to include his character in the upcoming "Mortal Kombat X."

In an interview with GamerFitNation, McFarlane stated that he already agreed to lend "Mortal Kombat X" his Spawn character if NetherRealm wants to use it. However, Spawn's appearance in the highly anticipated combat game will be for a limited time only.

"That means that they have access to be able to use the character in a couple of their games, if they want to," McFarlane said.

The graphics artist also reiterated that the decision of adding Spawn in the game lies on the game developer.

"Again, it's up to their discretion. I gave them a window of time, so I'll just leave it to them to do what it is that they want. Eventually, they'll phone me and they'll go, 'Hey, we want to use him here. Is that OK?' Well, technically, it's OK because we've already said yes. They just are letting us know," McFarlane stated.

It means that NetherRealm might decide not to add Spawn in the game after all.

Aside from "Mortal Kombat X," Spawn is also expected to appear in "Injustice: Gods Among Us 2." Spawn also starred in his own video game when "Soulcalibur II" was released exclusively on the Xbox platform in 2003.

"Mortal Kombat X" currently has 14 fighters on its roster, including some of the most legendary characters of the franchise like Kitana, Scorpion, Kano, Raiden, Goro, Sub-Zero, D'Vorah, Kotal Kahn, Quan Chi, Reptile, Kung Lao, Ferra/Torr, Ermac, as well as Cassie Cage.

Other characters that gamers would like to see in the game include Ed Boon's Predator and Oderus Urungus from the band called GWAR.

"Mortal Kombat X" is slated for release on April 14 in multiple platforms, including Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, as well as PC.
