After the announcement of the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL, Microsoft has indulged more in to the budget smartphone category by announcing the cheapest Windows Mobile smartphone released yet - the $70 Lumia 430.

According to Windows Central, Jo Harlow, the company's corporate vice president for Windows phones, stated:

"People around the world have responded enthusiastically to our affordable Lumia range. We continue to invest in this segment to ensure that as many people as possible can enjoy signature Microsoft experiences, regardless of budget. The Lumia 430 Dual SIM continues our commitment to combining the right hardware, software, services and apps with the right price to give people a smartphone they can afford and be proud to use."

While the Lumia 430 possesses entry level hardware specifications, Microsoft has managed to stuff in some features that will provide additional flexibility to consumers in search of price friendly smartphones. The Lumia 430 possesses a 4 inch display that renders the 800 by 480 resolution. Powering the miniature Windows Phone is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 200 chipset that is running a dual-core processor at 1.2 GHz. The device is also assimilated with 8 GB of internal memory and 1 GB of RAM.

While the Lumia 430 might be void of a 4G or LTE modem, the handset still delivers 3G connectivity, provides dual-SIM compatibility and allows the user's storage requirement to be expanded to 128 GB via a microSD card. However, the weak points concerning the Lumia 430 is that it is only equipped with a 2 megapixel rear and a VGA 0.3 megapixel front camera combo. Regardless, one perk of owning the cost-effective smartphone will be that it will be the recipient to Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system.

According to the source, Microsoft has stated that the Lumia 430 will become available in April and will be present in the following regions.

  • APAC
  • IMEA
  • Russia
