Video game developer 4A Games released a new trailer for its upcoming first-person shooter video game "Metro: Exodus" during the most recent Game Awards event. The trailer features an unforgiving terrain situated in Moscow with harsh weather and monsters.

"Metro: Exodus" is one of many upcoming video games featured at The Game Awards 2017 last Thursday in Los Angeles. The game was introduced earlier this year during the E3 event in Los Angeles, California.

The trailer reveals an isolated world with most of mankind and civilization dead. The full body gear and appearance of the game's main protagonist Artyom are also revealed in the trailer. In the trailer, Artyom navigates his way through a frozen and devastated Moscow. The trailer features the beasts that attacked the protagonist in the first trailer. The brand-new trailer ends with the Steam train Aurora going the distance.

The game brings new areas outside of Metro. The gameplay trailer shows a rather fine and sunny weather enveloping a wasteland. The setting shown in the second trailer is a frozen wasteland. 4A Games has not revealed further details about the storyline of the game or if it will feature new characters.

The trailer was well received by fans and critics at the event.

During an interview with PCGamesN, executive producer Jon Bloch confirmed that "Metro: Exodus" is not an open-world video game. Bloch said the improved gameplay can be considered a "sandbox survival." He added, "It's not exactly an open-world as you may be thinking, but we're able to offer the player a lot more freedom than in the past."

The predecessor of the Exodus, "Metro: Last Light," released in 2013 received high video game ratings from critics. IGN gave the post-apocalyptic-themed video game a score of 7.2 out of 10.

"Metro: Exodus" will be released in fall 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The inspiration behind the video game comes from the novel "Metro 2035" by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky.
