 Konami

Fans of the "Metal Gear Solid" franchise who are currently into the online multiplayer feature via "Metal Gear Online" are thrilled to know that publisher Konami still has plans to greatly expand the title.

According to Master Herald, one of the big selling points of games nowadays is game expansion via downloadable content, and Konami made sure that "Metal Gear Online" will be no exception. With the DLC already planned to roll out in future releases, fans can expect new maps, missions, and items for their forward observation bases and characters. The industry follower even added that according to online sources, Konami also plans to add a new gameplay element to "Metal Gear Online," a new Survival Mode.

Aside from the new mode, there will also be new maps for players, and IGN noted that one particular location showcased in Konami's livestream announcement bear a strong familiarity to the Mother Base found in "Metal Gear Solid V."

Meanwhile, Movie News Guide reported that with the news of planned future expansion content for "Metal Gear Online," fans' worries about the title being pulled out of the "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" experience were just rumors. Previously, there were speculations that the online multiplayer feature of "MGSV" will be pulled out, and the rumors intensified with news of Hideo Kojima leaving Konami and Kojima Productions' Los Angeles studio shutting down.

The industry follower also elaborated on the planned Survival Mode for "Metal Gear Online," saying that the new gameplay will be a deviation from the current Survival Match mission in the title, which offers rewards points based on win streaks instead of player performance.

While Konami announced expansion for "Metal Gear Online," players of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" also received some good news. Although there was no planned expansion yet for the storyline and plot in the title, WCCFTech reported that Konami will be adding new items such as weapons, gears, and base defenses for players to enjoy.
