Meizu MX5 Pro rumored to feature Exynos 7420 processor and 4 GB RAM

Chinese phone maker Meizu is rumored to be prepping a phablet sized successor of its MX4 Pro handset, which has been given the model name MX5 Pro. According to GizChina, the smartphone might actually end up delivering more processing power and battery life compared to Samsung's Galaxy S6 duo. This is because, the website states, the smartphone is going to be armed with the South Korean's homegrown Exynos 7420 chipset and 4 GB of RAM.

Currently, all Galaxy S6 models feature 3 GB of RAM, which will give MX5 Pro a slight edge in benchmarking applications, should the rumors turn out to the true. It is highly possible that Samsung starts partnering up with Chinese firms in order to distribute its Exynos 7420, seeing as how MX 4 Pro was incorporated with an Exynos 5430.

As for the remaining hardware specifications, MX5 Pro is expected to feature a 6 inch screen size that will be rendering a QHD resolution, which is the same number of pixels present on all models of Galaxy S6. However, where Meizu's future offering will take a comprehensive lead is battery life; the smartphone is rumored to feature a 4,000 mAh battery, along with a fingerprint scanner for added security.

In comparison, all Galaxy S6 models feature the following battery capacities:

  • Galaxy S6: 2,550 mAh
  • Galaxy S6 Edge: 2,600 mAh
  • Galaxy S6 Active: 3,500 mAh

While Galaxy S6 Active will come close to the rumored battery capacity of MX5 Pro, the Chinese branded smartphone will still take the lead. Rumor has it that Meizu's MX5 Pro will be announced in July, which is approximately a month after the company's regular MX5 has been brought in to the spotlight. Due to the device's impressive hardware specifications, consumers should definitely not be expecting a cheap price tag.
