Martin Smith and Micah Challenge worship with words and deeds

Fresh up on YouTube is a great little video from Martin Smith in support of the excellent Micah Challenge. Before performing an acoustic version of the CompassionArt song ‘You Have Shown Us’ Martin endorses Micah Challenge as he explains what he thinks true worship is.

“On October 10th this year… we can join with 100 million people across the planet, and we can pray and we can promise to act… It’s a way of empowering church to speak out for what’s on God’s heart. As Micah 6 says, ‘To act justly, love mercy and walk humbly before our God…’ and I think that’s true worship.”

‘You Have Shown Us’ has been a favourite among worshippers since it was written and then recorded by the CompassionArt team in early 2008. Simple, powerful and profoundly moving, the song takes the words of Micah 6:8 and urges the singer to act.

Kingsway is supporting Micah Challenge, especially the 10.10.10 event on October 10 this year. Churches all across the world will unite to worship, pray and act against global injustice.

It has released ‘You Have Shown Us’, a compilation of songs that aims to join the dots between worship and justice. Featuring songs from Martin Smith, Tim Hughes, and Matt Redman, the album was released on June 21.

Micah Challenge UK is a coalition of Christian organisations and churches in Britain, united in their concern to fight global poverty. It is part of the international Micah Challenge movement of churches and Christian agencies uniting to hold their governments to account for the promises they made towards the fulfilment of the
Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger by 2015.
