MacBook Air 2014 rumors: New 12-inch laptop should have higher battery capacity

If all the rumors pertaining to the features of the upcoming MacBook Air would come to fruition, then the laptop should, without question, pack a better battery capacity.

The MacBook Air is rumored to have power-hogging features. For one, it will reportedly show off the Retina display, which will be the first time that the line will pack Apple's trademark screen panel.  It is also said that it will have the more powerful 14-nanometer Broadwell processors from Intel, which will allow the laptop to be fanless and to be more power efficient. Being fanless is the latest trend in notebook as consumers are looking for lighter devices.  Other rumored features of the MacBook Air are 128 GB or 256 GB SSD, 1.4 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB RAM, 2x USB 3.0, Mini DisplayPort / Thunderbolt 2.0, memory card reader, and 720p FaceTime camera.

A better screen display means more pixels and more backlights, and a more powerful processor means better graphics and faster performance.  Thus, there is no question that the device would need a more powerful cell to complement the new features that the laptop will boast. However, there is no current rumor what the battery capacity of the MacBook Air would be.

The MacBook Air received a slight upgrade earlier this year when it updated the line with Haswell processors. But when the laptop did not appear at the press event last October, speculations began to emerge that the MacBook Air will be released in early 2015.  However, the Cupertino-based company has not confirmed yet whether it will release the new laptop early next year.
