'Longmire' Season 6 release date, plot, spoilers, updates: if it's renewed, new season expected to air in September 2017

"Longmire" season 5 has recently launched on Netflix last September, and the series saw Dr. Donna Monaghan (Ally Walker) getting kidnapped. Netflix has yet to announce if the show is moving forward with season 6, which will resolve the remaining cliffhangers. If it does, it is expected to premiere in September next year.

According to Fab Newz, Netflix has made it a habit of premiering "Longmire" in September. It did this with season 5 and season 4 back in 2014 as well. Before that period, the show was still airing on A&E. The first three seasons are now on Netflix for fans to stream and binge-watch.

If Netflix follows the same release pattern, then it is likely that "Longmire" season 6 will be launching in September 2017. However, this is only if the show is renewed for another season. "Longmire" is noted as a highly praised show, but it is not as popular as some of Netflix's other series.

This year, Netflix released some shows that were highly praised, one of which is "Stranger Things," and the streaming giant may be focusing on the more successful shows they have. However, given that Netflix does not release the viewer ratings of their shows, it is uncertain how well "Longmire" season 5 really performed.

Should the series move forward, it is hinted that Walt (Robert Taylor) will conclude his relationship with Donna, whether they get married or break up due to the events of season 5. Vic (Katee Sackhoff) will also have to deal with her pregnancy, and fans speculate she might be getting together with Walt.

In the original novels where the show is based on, Vic and Walt had a romantic relationship, but this was never explored in the show, and season 6 may finally see that storyline explored.

Netflix has yet to confirm if the show is getting renewed and when it may premiere.
