"Longmire" is yet to be officially renewed for a sixth season, but the show has a high chance of moving forward, given the success of the past two seasons. When the show returns in late 2017, it is speculated to focus on Walt (Robert Taylor) and Vic (Katee Sackhoff) finally getting together.

Throughout season 5 Walt had been romantically linked to Dr. Donna Monaghan (Ally Walker) and spent the time looking for the one who kidnapped her. There have been hints of Walt being romantically involved with others, particularly with Vic, but the two never got around to pushing forward with this, and they have always maintained their relationship as mere friends.

However, in the original novels, Walt and Vic were romantically involved, and their relationship has played a major role in developing their characters. According to the Huffington Post, it is now widely rumored that season 6 of the show will see Walt and Vic admit their feelings to each other.

It is even further hinted that they are going to take their relationship one step further and get married. This may be an indication that the show is going to end, as these characters are given a happy ending after the years of turmoil and constant violence. Fans speculate that it will be a means of ending Walt's personal journey, and it would allow him to find some sense of peace.

According to a report from Game N Guide, the studios behind the show are preparing to make an announcement soon, indicating that the show is going to be renewed for at least one more season. This will allow the series to give the characters a proper conclusion and to let Walt and Vic be together just as they are in the books.

If the show gets renewed, it is likely to premiere in late September 2017, based on the premiere date of previous seasons ever since the show moved to Netflix.
