'Longmire' season 4 news: filming begins late March

The camera will finally start rolling this month for "Longmire's" much-requested fourth season. On March 13, fan-operated Twitter account @LongLiveLongmire confirmed that the show will start filming before the end of the month.

According to the post, "@drofdem @LouDPhillips They start filming the new season on 3/23, hopefully will premiere on Netflix by fall."

Series writer Tony Tost also confirmed earlier through a tweet that the production will begin in late March, and it reads: "#Longmire production for S4 kicks in late March. We're deep into the writing. It's already my favorite season. So much history now in play."

Ecumenical News reported that "Longmire" season 4 will take off exactly where the third season ended. The premiere episode will reportedly start during the cliffhanger scene that took place in the season 3 finale, which showed a conversation between Sheriff Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) and the alleged killer of his wife .

The season will also center on the investigation that Longmire launched to find out who really killed his wife, and his daughter Cady's (Cassidy Freeman) reaction upon learning that her mom was killed instead of dying of cancer, which she was originally told.

Fans of the show were disappointed when A&E cancelled the show at the end of its third season, but their constant request for a fourth season paid off when Netflix decided to pick up the show for a 10-episode run. With Netflix on the rescue, the production staff of the highly-acclaimed crime drama can now have more creative freedom to make improvements in the story, since there will be no censorship to consider and the show will have a longer running time as well.

Still, little is known about how the entire 10-episode season will roll out, since the show is still in its early production days.

"Longmire" season 4 is expected to premiere on Netflix this fall.
