'Longmire' season 4 confirmed? Does author Craig Johnson know?

Fans of A&E's "Longmire" are keeping their fingers crossed as there is still no news about the series' impending renewal or cancellation. However, there are many critics who believe that the odds are in the fans' favor.

Season three ended with several cliffhangers, which made viewers want to get their answers in another season making season four more likely to happen.

According to CarterMatt, even A&E wants to renew the series. And the site cites four reasons why there is a good chance that "'Longmire' will be renewed."

First, A&E is still promoting the show online. While this doesn't confirm anything, this is still a good sign that the showrunners are highly considering a fourth season.

Next, despite the dip in viewership for season two, "Longmire" is still the most-watched scripted series on the network as it was able to gain an audience in season three. Although "The Glades" was cancelled despite good ratings, the ratings probably weren't enough and besides, it wasn't a "most-watched" show on the network anyway.

Last year, "Longmire" was only renewed in October. This year, fans will wait for another two months to know the fate of the show. Meanwhile, if it does return this year, it will do so in 2015.

Does author Craig Johnson know what will happen though? A&E's "Longmire" is based on Johnson's mystery series by the same name. Recently, Johnson went to Cody for a book tour and fans couldn't help but ask about the fate of the show.

He said "It's a different art form," noting that the novel and the TV show have major differences. He also said that what works in the book might not work on TV. It looks like Johnson has no clue about the renewal as well.
