Lily Allen expecting first child

LONDON - Pop star Lily Allen is pregnant with her first baby, her publicist announced on Wednesday.

"I am pleased to confirm that Lily Allen and her boyfriend Ed Simons are expecting their first child," her spokesman said.

"However, as the pregnancy is at a very, very early stage, the couple ask that you respect their privacy, as the health of Lily and their child is their paramount concern."

The spokesman said Allen, the 22-year-old daughter of actor Keith Allen, and Simons were thrilled by the news.

Despite the pregnancy, the singer's new album would be released as planned next year, he added.
