Six long-serving priests have been made Prebendaries at Lichfield Cathedral.

They were each given a 'seat' in the cathedral in a ceremony led by Bishop Jonathan Gledhill and Dean Adrian Dorber.

In days gone by, the 'seat' would have provided an income through tithes and rents. Nowadays the prebendary is an honorary position given to clergy who have provided long service and are held in high regard by the diocese.

They may occasionally preach or lead worship and they are also able to join the Cathedral Chapter, the wider body with responsibility for the cathedral.
