Thanks to poor Nexus 9 sales, Google has omitted releasing a Nexus branded tablet from the equation in 2015. Instead, the tech giant will be releasing two Nexus smartphones; one from LG and the other one from Huawei. Earlier, it was reported that LG's Nexus device will be given the codename Angler while Huawei's offering will be named Bullhead. However, those codenames have been switched, with LG's upcoming offering featuring the codename Bullhead instead of Huawei's.
The leak was the result of an Android source code reference and according to Android Police, the Nexus smartphone being developed by the South Korean firm is going to be codenamed Bullhead. If the leak turns out to be true, then it is Bullhead that will feature a Snapdragon 808 SoC, along with a 5.2 inch screen size and QHD resolution.
On the other hand, Huawei's Nexus handset is expected to possess a phablet sized form factor and will possess a 5.7 inch screen radiating the same resolution as LG Bullhead. While the device is expected to feature a Snapdragon 810 chipset, it is possible that Huawei proceeds to incorporate its own Kirin lineup of SoCs, which can range anywhere between Kirin 930 and Kirin 950.
The 5.2 inch smartphone will be fitted with a 2,700 mAh battery while the 5.7 inch Nexus device will feature a 3,500 mAh cell. Huawei's device, now been codenamed Angler, will serve as the direct successor to Nexus 6, which was developed by Motorola and was powered by a Snapdragon 805.
It is expected that both handsets are going to be showcased during the month of October and while the following has not been confirmed by Google, it is possible that LG Bullhead and Huawei Angler are running Android M, Google's latest operating system update, out of the box.
