The rumor that LG will be making an early launch for its G5 flagship next year seems to be accurate. Recently, reports of what appeared to be specs of the upcoming LG premium iteration appeared online.
According to Pocket Lint, the leak originated from Chinese social media site Weibo, via a tip from leakster Zealer. Apparently, the Weibo post disclosed key specs of the upcoming LG G5. Although the source was not cited, the industry follower stated that the content seemed genuine, if only for the fact that it was immediately taken down.
Although the Weibo post has been deleted, industry observers such as Phone Arena have already taken note of the alleged specs. Reportedly, the upcoming LG G5 will have a 5.6-inch screen with 1440 x 2560 resolution. The dimension is slightly bigger than the previous LG G-series iterations, which came with 5.5-inch screens. However, the screen for the new LG G5 will still be the same QHD display, so color accuracy, contrast and brightness might still be the same as what LG fans have come to expect.
In addition to the screen, the post also revealed that when the G5 comes out, it will most likely carry the new Snapdragon 820 processor, with a quad-core CPU and an Adreno 530 GPU. Features of the new LG G5 will allegedly include a 21-MP main camera, and an 8-MP front shooter. Also, the LG G5 will purportedly add an iris scanner.
The iris scanner spec has also been mentioned by GSM Arena, adding that there will also be a fingerprint scanner like what LG featured on the V10. The industry follower, however, said that since it seems that LG is integrating some V10 features into the G5, the upcoming iteration may also come with the dual-front cam setup. Also, the report stated that the LG G5 could come in an all-metal unibody, ditching the faux leather back for the previous iterations.
