Square Enix knows how to make the hearts of their fans skip a beat — by teasing that a new Japanese role-playing game will be announced very soon.

Siliconera stumbled upon an article posted by Japanese website Nikkei on Tuesday, where Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda exclusively revealed that a surprise announcement will be unveiled this year.

"At the moment, we have major titles such as Dragon Quest Heroes and Final Fantasy Type-0 HD," Matsuda stated. "In 2015, I believe we will offer a vast number of high-end games in both the domestic market and overseas. Now that we've already announced Final Fantasy XV, we will also reveal information on [another] JRPG. I believe we have a bit of a surprise in store for this year."

The executive refused to elaborate on the inclusions in the announcement. He did confirm that it will be a JRPG for consoles. Since the next installment in the "Final Fantasy" series is already out of the question, could Matsuda be referring to the other highly anticipated Square Enix game, which is "Kingdom Hearts 3?"

Earlier this year, voice actor Bill Farmer claimed that the highly-awaited action role playing game for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 is supposed to come out this year after they worked on it for the past years. But the game studio denied Farmer's claims, saying that there is no concrete release date for "Kingdom Hearts 3" at the time.

Still, fans of the game remain hopeful that Square Enix will decide to launch "Kingdom Hearts 3" before the year ends.

At any rate, Matsuda said that the western division of the gaming studio is currently preparing for the release of the "Rise of the Tomb Raider" and "Just Cause 3," and they are preparing a lot of exciting stuff for the next E3, so there's a lot that gamers can look forward to.
