Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole album release date, updates: Project postponed as Lamar collaborates with Travis Scott first

Fans have been eagerly waiting for the supposed collaboration album between rappers Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole. While no official update has been announced, it is widely speculated that the album is being delayed as Lamar may be working to collaborate with hip-hop artist Travis Scott first.

Lamar and Scott had just recently worked together for the song "Goosebumps," a song that appeared on Scott's newest album, "Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight." It is hinted that the two will be collaborating again, with Scott appearing on Lamar's new album, or it is also possible that the duo might make one whole album together.

Speaking to Billboard, Scott revealed that it was Lamar who first approached him and admitted to Scott that he liked his music.

"I met him at the MTV Video Music Awards one year and he came up to me and was just like, 'Yo, man, I [expletive] with your music. It's super dope and inspirational,'" Scott explained. "That's one of the things that made me want to keep working on my music and try to keep it going. I like rappers. It's just dope that these dudes came to La Flame's world to get down on some ill beats."

Vine Report points out that Lamar has been collaborating with a lot of different artists lately, but not with J. Cole, and it is possible that the duo has not been able to get together given that they are both busy with their tours, solo efforts, and festival appearances. Cole is also planning to release a follow-up up to his 2014 studio album.

No official news has been released on whether the collaboration between Lamar and Cole has been canceled or postponed. The two rappers have yet to give an official update on whether the project is alive and moving forward or if it has been canceled.
