The upcoming DC superhero film "Justice League" is about to introduce the biggest villain yet in DC Extended Universe (DCEU), who is none other than Steppenwolf.

Fans who are familiar with the character's original storyline in the comics would know that Steppenwolf is just the beginning of more terrible things to come, as he is just a top general to the all-powerful supervillain, Darkseid. In the 2017 movie version, it is speculated that Steppenwolf and Darkseid's connection will be more than a servant-and-master relationship

Screen Rant covered a latest "Justice League" theory posted by Geek Magazine, stating that Steppenwolf and Darkseid will have a different connection compared to what DC comic book fans know about the two villains. To note, Darkseid is not yet expected to wreak havoc in "Justice League" 2017 movie. Instead, the lord of Apokolips will make his presence felt in "Justice League 2."

Geek Magazine thinks that Steppenwolf will not only be Darkseid's right hand. "Justice League" may introduce the character as Darkseid's blood relative. Steppenwolf may end up being the niece of Apokolips ruler, thus opening more opportunities to explore the lineage of the so-called "New Gods" in New Genesis and Apokolips, two planets that have waged a bloody war against each other.

Steppenwolf's real agenda on Planet Earth in "Justice League" is not yet confirmed, although Geek Magazine mentioned that Darkseid's top general, and probably his niece, is on a mission to gather three important items known as the "Mother Boxes." To make things more complicated, one of these Mother Boxes is now inside a Justice League member, Cyborg (Ray Fisher).

Aside from being Steppenwolf's niece, the anticipated "Justice League 2" villain is even rumored to turn out as the former's father in the movie version, according to Comic Book. It has yet to be confirmed what kind of relationship the two villains will have. Although building a family relation between them will be interesting, especially that DCEU is already hinted to introduce the "New Gods" storyline, which deals with a lot of bloodline relations in Apokolips.

Meanwhile, Polygon reported that the latest "Justice League" trailer features Steppenwolf battling with the Amazons of Themyscira. The villain's first look pitted him against a group of Amazons, although Steppenwolf was able to neutralize the warriors with his axe. The next scene of the character has him facing Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) herself.

"Justice League" will premiere in theaters this November 2017.
