'Jurassic World Evolution' news: Game's release date leaked; Jeff Goldblum reprises role

Although there is no official release date yet for "Jurassic World Evolution," it seems that the date was leaked in a recent event for the video game. If the leak proves to be true, then the game will come out around the same time as the premiere of the franchise's new film. Speaking of the films, actor Jeff Goldblum, who starred in the first movie, will reprise his role for the game.

A low-resolution image taken during a "Jurassic World Evolution" event at the Universal Backlot seems to reveal the date that the game will be released. Footage taken during the event, apparently, should have been kept under wraps until March 29, although one image was leaked to the public.

This may mean that the official announcement will come out on March 29, although it can also possibly come sooner due to the leak.

The image shows a screen displaying the game's logo, with the words "Launching 12 June 2018" underneath. The event was held by Frontier Developments, the developer and publisher of "Jurassic World Evolution."

Frontier Developments first announced the game last year. "Jurassic World Evolution" will reportedly be available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The developers also released some in-game footage, captured by the team at the website TheSixthAxis, which revealed that the game will be released during the summer of 2018.

Thus, it may indeed be possible that the official release date is June 12. If this actually is the release date, then it will be close to the premiere of the film "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom," which comes out on June 22.

In other related news, actor Jeff Goldblum has been confirmed to be returning to the franchise to reprise his role as Dr. Ian Malcolm — not in the film, but in the video game instead. Goldblum's character will continue his story in the game, wherein players will have the ability to take control of the Muertes Archipelago and bioengineer new dinosaurs. Players will have to start from scratch, building new dinosaurs as well as parks and research facilities on the island.
