John Waller feels God's love in life and death

The last week has taken Christian artist John Waller to the heights of joy and the depths of sorrow.

Last Thursday, he celebrated the birth of his son Josiah Emmanuel Waller, only to be crushed by the unexpected death of his mother one day later.

Joyce Scarbrough Waller died of a heart attack last Friday. She is survived by her husband, four children and 16 grandchildren.

For John, it is hard knowing that his mother was not able to hold her new grandson, but he is still giving thanks to God.

"It's in moments like these when you realise how deeply God loves you," says Waller.

"I am so overjoyed by the birth of my son and so very grieved by the unexpected loss of my mother. She was young.

"I so wanted and expected her to be holding her grandson now. Instead, she is being held by her loving Saviour.

"Thank you for your prayers, especially for my precious father."

A funeral service was held today at the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro Worship Center with John and Dr Mel Blackaby officiating.

John is the artist who touched hearts around the world with his powerful track, "While I'm Waiting".

The track was the theme song for hit Christian film, "Fireproof", and is all about having the heart of worship even while we are waiting on the Lord.
