John Cena issues a WrestleMania 34 challenge to The Undertaker

John Cena may indeed be on the road to WrestleMania 34 after all as he made a surprise challenge against The Undertaker on "Monday Night RAW." Cena began to goad The Undertaker into accepting his challenge, saying that the only thing standing in the way of a match between the two is The Undertaker himself.

Cena's storyline this year was that of a defeated wrestling superstar who may not have it in himself to be a champion anymore. By all appearances, it looked as though his Road to WrestleMania has ended, and that he will be showing up to the WWE's biggest pay-per-view event of the year as no more than an audience member.

On March 12's "Monday Night RAW," he played the role of the former champion going downhill before he suddenly realized that he had nothing to lose. Cena wondered what would happen if he did something that he was not supposed to do before finally roaring out a challenge to The Undertaker.

It is unclear what The Undertaker's status in the WWE is. His last WWE appearance was at last year's WrestleMania 33, when he suffered his second WrestleMania defeat in his 27-year WWE career. There have been rumors that this defeat sent The Undertaker into retirement, spurred on by even more rumors that the wrestling legend had undergone the hip replacement surgery he was putting off until after his retirement.

However, with Cena's new challenge, The Undertaker may come out of his purported retirement and step onto the ring once more.

"Stop hiding behind your lame excuses," Cena said into the camera, addressing The Undertaker. "You are not too old, you are not washed-up, you are not broken down," he added.

Cena then also mentioned the workout videos that The Undertaker posts on Instagram, saying that the wrestling legend would not be working out if he were indeed broken down. Cena also said that stroking The Undertaker's ego may be the only way to get him to come out of retirement, proceeding to thus imply that The Undertaker would defeat him at WrestleMania.

It is entirely possible that this match would be a crowd-drawing spectacle at the WWE event. After all, Cena has the ability to increase the viewership of events he participates in. A match between him and another wrestling superstar will likely generate a lot of ticket sales for the WWE.
