The third day of jury deliberations for the Jodi Arias sentencing retrial case ended without a final decision.
The first day of deliberation began on Feb. 25, then another deliberation happened the day after that. Neither resulted to an actual decision. KTar news reported that the second set of jurors for the retrial of defendant Jodi Arias already reached around 16 hours since the deliberation started.
Arias' murder case brought two trials. One determined that she was guilty of murdering her then-boyfriend Travis Alexander back in 2008, but the first jury failed to make a unanimous vote for her penalty when the trial ended in 2013. The second jury was called in the last quarter of 2014 to help determine her fate. The four-month retrial brought several motions and hearings in front of the Maricopa County Superior Court as well as several hours of testimony.
While the tough decision on Arias' penalty is still being made, FOX 10 already got the first glimpse of the new prison cell at the Lumley Unit of the Perryville Prison Facility where Arias will be housed after the sentencing retrial is finalized. According to the website, the new prison cell for Arias has a painted blue floor, a small bunk bed that has a thin vinyl covered mattress, a few shelves, and a small porcelain sink, as well as a personal toilet. But unlike her time at the Maricopa County Jail, Arias will have no liberty to interact with others.
"So it doesn't matter to her life or death, because the death row, there's so few women, only two of them, they are in the midst of where the maximum security inmates are housed," Director Charles Ryan of the Arizona Department of Corrections said.
The final result of the deliberation for Jodi Arias' case is expected to come soon.
