Jesse Eisenberg rumored to play Lex Luthor in 'Suicide Squad'

While it has been confirmed that Jesse Eisenberg will be portraying one of Superman's archenemies in the 2016 film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," it has also been rumored that the star of "The Social Network" will be playing the same character in a movie that is expected to be released on Aug. 5, 2016 — "Suicide Squad." The movie is expected to hit theatres in the same year as "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

Latino Review offers two possible scenarios, but according to Cinema Blend's report, the plot of the movie revolves around Lex Luthor being involved in a very lucrative business called superhero trafficking. To put an end to Lex Luthor's schemes, Amanda Waller, a very popular figure in the DC Universe and who will be played by Viola Davis, will put together a special squad that comprises of incarcerated individuals that are popular antagonists in several DC comic plots.

Amanda Waller will be recruiting the likes of Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and several others whose primary objective is to stop Lex Luthor in exchange for either a pardon or a reduced sentence. Jared Leto, who will be portraying Batman's archnemesis Joker, will also be appearing in the film.

As the story unfolds, the Suicide Squad learns that Lex Luthor is only involved in bio-weaponry and that the one responsible for superhuman trafficking is the Enchantress.

In addition to all the actors who will be portraying the popular villains in the DC Universe, Jai Courteney will reportedly be playing as Captain Boomerang. Tom Hardy, who was supposed to play Rick Flag, Waller's second-in-command, has dropped out and there are rumors that Jake Gyllenhaal will be replacing him.

These are just rumors, and David Ayer, who will be spearheading the project, has not commented on any plot details. And since there are more than 12 months remaining for the film to be released, a lot of things can happen within that period.
