Superman video game coming soon?

A new online leak is now suggesting that a Superman video game could be announced very soon.

The leak contains an image of Superman together with a short biography of the famed superhero set beside him in text. The leak also indicates that the image was taken from a game, given the button prompts present.

Fans immediately cried foul over the leaked image, suggesting that it could be nothing more than a fake, according to iDigital Times. Interestingly, after the uproar surrounding the initially leaked image, a gif appeared online resembling the same image and adding some animation for good measure.

Thanks to the image and the subsequent gif leak, rumors online are now suggesting that a Superman video game is likely, with fans even pointing to Rocksteady Studios as being behind the project. Fans say the game developer following up with an array of Superman-centric games after its successful "Batman: Arkham" franchise is the logical next step.

Another rumor making the rounds suggests that the studio working on the new Superman game is WB Montreal, according to Comics Alliance.

WB Montreal also has connections to the "Batman: Arkham" franchise. The studio was the one that developed "Batman: Arkham Origins," the game that served as the prequel to Rocksteady's trilogy.

Fans are also pointing to WB Montreal as the potential developers of a new Superman video game due to the company's current mass hiring of employees for several positions. WB Montreal is currently working on an open-world game.

Another possible explanation for the leaked Superman image is that it is part of a new game, but not a stand-alone franchise for the iconic hero. Superman is reportedly going to be part of the new "Injustice 2" game currently in development, and the leaked image could very well be a screenshot from the title.
