iPod touch 6th gen release date, specs rumors: Next iPod device to come out in fall

Will the new iPod Touch 6th Gen look like this? Apple.com

After waiting for so long, iPod touch users can finally see the next-generation multimedia player device from Apple Inc., that is, if the latest reports turn out to be accurate.

Stabley Times recently reported that the iPod touch 6th Generation will be unveiled during the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2015 which will be held at Moscone West in San Francisco from June 8 to 12.

According to the report, Apple deliberately chose not to launch the iPod touch 6th Gen alongside the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus last year due to several reasons. But the tech giant is now planning to release the next version of the iPod touch together with the alleged iPhone 6s later this fall.

Loyal users of the portable multi-media player have almost lost hope of seeing another edition of the iPod touch since the device has been missing from the device announcements from Apple. But the latest round of reports claims that the product line will still be continued.

Master Herald reported that the new iPod touch 6th Gen will combine the looks and specs of the iPhone and the earlier iPod products in one device, with thinner dimensions but with more colorful back plastic casings. It will also feature some of Apple's latest technologies, including Force Touch technology, Touch ID fingerprint sensor, an 8-megapixel camera, as well as the Apple Pay mobile payment system integration. The device will also come in 32 GB and 64 GB variants, and will run using the rumored iOS 9 operating system.

While Apple CEO Tim Cook is still mum about the iPod touch 6th Gen, reports say that the device will be sold between $250 up to $300 upon release.

If speculations are spot-on, then the iPod touch 6th Gen will replace the earlier iPod touch 5th Gen edition that came out in 2012.
