A few months after the unveiling of Apple's latest flagship handset, the iPhone X, the rumor mill is already filled with scoops regarding the next batch of iPhones. It will be quite challenging for the Cupertino-based tech giant to top off the iPhone X, but according to the recent reports, Apple will bring forth a shocker by unveiling a massive iPhone XI S Plus with 6.5-inch OLED display.
As reported by Gizbot, the chances are growing that Apple will introduce a brand new iPhone model with monster display size. A few weeks ago, tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities made a prediction that Apple will release a huge iPhone device with display length amounting to 6.5 inches. Recently, Chuljoong Kim, an analyst from Jefferies & Co., made some notes that support Kuo's prediction. According to Kim, it is not out of reach that Apple can launch a massive iPhone with a 6.5-inch screen. Furthermore, he claims that this handset will be called the iPhone XI S Plus.
Kim predicts that LG Electronics will be the company in charge of manufacturing the OLED panel of the iPhone XI S Plus. To note, Apple made a partnership with Samsung for the shipment of the iPhone X's OLED screens. However, it is speculated that Apple will be avoiding the company behind the Galaxy S series from now on. The rumors are rife that the company prefers to invest in a new LG facility dedicated to produce future iPhone display panels.
The extra screen area will not be the only improvement of the iPhone XI S Plus over the iPhone X. According to Kim, the iPhone XI S Plus will sport a flexible OLED display, which will allow more advancements in the smartphone's technology.
Unfortunately, it does not look like the iPhone XI S Plus will be available in the market anytime soon. Kim has stated that the massive 6.5-inch iPhone model, along with two other new variants, will be unveiled by Apple in 2020. These iPhones are expected to sport OLED panels, posing more challenge to Apple's suppliers due to the material's expensive cost.
