The iPhone X pre-order has officially opened on Friday, Oct. 27, giving Apple fans a chance to get the much-awaited 10th anniversary smartphone at the soonest time possible. However, the latest reports show that there is not much time left for willing buyers to reserve their iPhone X units as the stock is very limited.

Pre-orders for the iPhone X went live last Friday at 3 a.m. EDT. As expected, several people were quick to have their smartphones reserved online. At this rate, however, there is a growing chance that many others might get their iPhone X after the year ends. According to Daily Mail, the first few minutes of the pre-ordering period saw a very high number of the flagship model being sold, leading to a possible "catastrophic stock shortage" as per the tech experts.

An insider source told Tech Radar that the best way for the public to secure an iPhone X before 2018 is to make their pre-orders at the earliest time. People can still check the Apple website to see if there are some units still available for pre-orders. Although, it will not be surprising if there are only a few stocks left, if not completely depleted.

The source also claimed that top retailers in the country only have a "tiny number" of iPhone X stocks assigned to them, leaving no other choice for latecomers but to wait until next year when the available stocks are expected to catch up with the demand. It is estimated that the iPhone X market will go normal by January or February.

Meanwhile, as the iPhone X pre-orders became available this weekend, Apple also revealed a few details regarding the device. One of the most interesting fact about the handset is that its screen repair cost can already buy a mid-range smartphone. As reported by MacRumors, an iPhone X screen replacement would cost a whopping $275, almost double the price of an iPhone 6 screen replacement at $129. For comparison's sake, the recently released iPhone 8 has its screen replacement cost at $169.

More information is expected to be announced as the iPhone X officially arrives in the worldwide market on Nov. 3.
