It has been hinted that the iPhone 7 will not include the standard 3.5mm audio port. However, a new report claims that Apple has decided to go for a standard jack after all.

According to Forbes, a Japanese fansite has stated that Apple will not be pushing through with its decision to include a Lightning-type audio port in favor of the standard audio jack for the iPhone 7. Reportedly, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will come with standard audio, with Apple and some third-party manufacturers supplying their own Lightning-type adapters instead. Meanwhile, one of the noted changes for the iPhone 7 lineup will instead be under the hood, where additional speakers with monoaural system will be used, instead of stereo.

The industry observer also reiterated the rumors that the Cupertino-based company will be going with a 256-GB storage option as the most premium iteration of the iPhone 7 lineup, and will scratch off the 16-GB option from the list. It is also said that since the new platform is already announced, Apple may think of including at least a stable, if a not a full version, of the iOS 10 for a late 2016 release. The new iPhone may also come out with a dual-SIM version.

Meanwhile, according to Apple Insider, Apple is still waiting for major technology changes before coming out with a heavily upgraded iPhone. This means that for this year, the iPhone 7 lineup will not have major changes in the design, and will only have minimal updates on its hardware and software. Instead, the development team is reportedly pushing for the major redesign and upgrade on the flagship for next year, which may be the iPhone 8 – which also means that fans may not see an iPhone 7s upgrade in the pipeline.
