iOS 11.3 problems & issues update: Apple admits new update caused problems in iPhone 7 microphone

It looks like the latest iOS 11.3 update has some major bugs and issues, with users reporting problems with Apple's latest OS version. This time around, the problem lies with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus devices, with some complaining that their microphones have become disabled since installing the iOS 11.3 update.

Apple has already confirmed that the iOS 11.3 is the culprit behind the mysterious blocking of the microphone on some iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus units. Some people have noticed that the other person on the call could not hear their voice when making a phone call. The case of disabled microphone in 2016 iPhone models varies, from the grayed-out speaker icon in the Phone app, to the faded voice of the user during Facetime and regular voice calls.

Apple made the confirmation through the company's latest internal support document, which is now available in stores with Apple kit. While the Cupertino-based tech giant did not make an official statement regarding the iOS 11.3 glitch, the support document includes all the tips that the users may follow to fix the microphone blocking.

One of the solutions introduced in the document is to disconnect Bluetooth or other audio accessories linked to the iPhone. Some people claim that this step has enabled the microphone once again, although it is still not clear how this step would help fix the glitch.

If some of the tips given by Apple do not solve the latest iOS 11.3 issue, it is advised to take the defective unit to the nearest Apple Store or authorized Apple retailer for a quick check. Per Tech Radar, the service technicians assigned at different authorized stores are already told to check a device that is no longer covered by warranty for free, since the iOS 11.3 seems to have caused the defect and not the user's error.

Prior to the microphone blocking in iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, it was already reported that the iOS 11.3 update disables third-party screens. Fortunately, the issue was already fixed with the release of the iOS 11.3.1 minor update.
