Huawei P9 Lite release, specs, features: Step-down Huawei P9 goes official, to release next month

Huawei has already revealed its newest flagship, the P9 lineup. However, observers noted that the lineup is incomplete, as the tech manufacturer did not include the P9 Lite in the flagship's unveiling. Some thought that the P9 Lite is just a rumor.

However, it seems that the company only has different plans for the lineup addition. According to reports, the Huawei P9 Lite is now official.

Android Headlines mentioned that one of the hints that the P9 Lite will be rolled out soon is that the new iteration has been spotted recently passing through TENAA, China's certification organization. Huawei has apparently already hinted that the P9 Lite will come out by next month.

Meanwhile, although Huawei has yet to provide official listings for the lineup addition, the P9 Lite has already been spotted in several websites, complete with price tags. Allegedly, the step-down version of the Huawei P9 flagship will be priced for around €299 in Europe, and may start releasing from May 9 onwards.

According to GSM Arena, the price listing also came with the Huawei P9 Lite's specs sheet. Reportedly, there will be subtle differences with the design on the base model and the Lite version of Huawei P9. The Lite version will have a 5.2-inch display with 1080p resolution and carries the Kirin 950 chipset – this makes it on par with the Huawei Mate 8, at the least. There is also 2 GB of RAM onboard.

As for it being a step-down version, the Huawei P9 Lite is expected to carry a regular, 13-MP main camera on its rear panel, and not the dual-cam, Leica-engineered snapper on the flagship model. On the front selfie camera, the Huawei P9 Lite is supposed to carry a 5-MP setup.

The Lite version will also carry Android Marshmallow with the latest version of EMUI, and 16 GB of onboard storage.
