The new Pixel C tablet, which many observers say is the replacement flagship for the Nexus 10, has already been made available by Google. With the release of its new flagship, Google hopes to take on a market already dominated by Microsoft, Asus, and Lenovo.
Meanwhile, another recent addition to the hybrid market is Apple's iPad Pro. How will the two newcomers compare against each other?
Even casual users who will see it for the first time will immediately associate Apple's largest tablet to date as a cousin to the iPad lineup. The signature polycarbonate and aluminum build is present, as well as the staple color options. Meanwhile, Engadget judged the Pixel C to have a "this feels expensive" look and build because of the all-metal chassis.
However, the iPad Pro is larger than the Pixel C, both in terms of dimensions and display. Apple's new addition is the largest iPad to date, with a 12.9-inch screen that displays 2732 x 2048 resolution. Google's flagship, on the other hand, has a smaller 10.2-inch display with 2560 x 1800 resolution.
Hardware and performance
Both tablets are offered with their own smart keyboards, which place them as capable workhorses. Under the hood, the specs seem to be top of the line for their respective makers – the Pixel C has the new Nvidia Tegra X1 with 3 GB of RAM, while Apple featured its own A9X processor in the iPad Pro. While the Cupertino-based company does not advertise the RAM capacity for its products, observers like KnowYourMobile confirmed that the new Apple tablet has 4 GB of RAM inside.
iOS vs. Android
One thing that would not be left out in comparing a Google and Apple product is the software. According to Android Pit, one of the most noted changes in Google's Pixel C is that it ditched ChromeOS for the Android environment as it comes with Android 6.0.1 out of the box. Partnered with a smart keyboard, the Pixel C is more than capable of handling above-average computing.
The iPad Pro, on the other hand, is a product more likely to be used for graphics processing. The Cupertino-based company built a stylus accessory, the Apple Pencil, to go with its largest iPad. Announcing that its new A9X processor and integrated graphics are close enough to iMacs in terms of performance, the iPad Pro's iOS9 will most likely be optimized by graphics professionals.
