Google is known to provide the regular security updates for the Pixel devices every month. However, the November security patch for the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL is a bit different due to a number of issues that Google aimed to fix right away. The highlight of the latest software update is the addition of new color saturation options.
As reported by Android Central, the recently-released software patch for the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL includes a new set of color display options, namely boosted, natural, and saturated. Some users who already purchased the Pixel 2 XL complained about the lack of saturation on screen, and Google promised that they would be allowed to configure the color display settings on the device through a future software update.
Google claimed that the Pixel 2 XL display was not intended to boast the same vibrant colors as other smartphones, although the company aimed to make the visuals more realistic. Still, some users preferred the saturated colors on screen. With the latest software update, users can choose the saturated mode to put the Pixel 2 XL display back to the same setting as the first Pixel device. Doing so will make the colors appear more saturated and vibrant, although Google reminded users that this option will make colors less accurate.
According to BGR, Pixel 2 XL users can access the new screen options by going to the Settings app, choosing Display, Advanced, then Colors. The new color display options will be shown, including the saturated mode. The Pixel 2 will also receive the same options.
Aside from the color saturation option, the Google Pixel 2 XL software update also provided bug fixes for audio recording feature. There were reports that faint, crackling sounds can be heard in sound clippings recorded by the Pixel 2 XL, and the November patch aimed to improve the device's audio quality. A few changes will also be introduced in the display behavior in hopes of solving the screen burn-in issues complained by users.
