'Game of Thrones' Season 5 spoilers: 12 new characters, wildings and King's Landings politics

The "Game of Thrones" season 4 will soon come to an end and fans are curious bout the show's future. Will there be a new season or will it get cancelled? If there is a new season, what will the season 5 plot be all about?

First things first, a fake Facebook post about the cancellation of GOT season 5 spread like wildfire causing much concern from avid GOT fans. But fans can now breathe a sigh of relief because this post is a hoax. According to Epoch Times, there is no truth to this "cancellation" and the post is intended to get Facebook users to download a malicious file. That's what's it all about.

Moving forward, this means that we will be seeing more "Game of Thrones" as the show was indeed renewed for season 5 and 6 already, confirms Deadline. The news of the renewal came just when the first episode of season 4 debuted. This is the first "multi-season pickup" for the show, which means that fans are assured of two more seasons. What about season 7? This will still depend on George R.R. Martin, who is yet to write the Book 6. Well, there's still plenty of time anyway.

So, what can fans expect from "Game of Thrones" season 5? According to Whatculture.com, there will be 12 new characters to emerge in the fifth season. The long list includes Prince Doran Martell, Obara Sand, Nymeria Sand, Tyene Sand, Prince Trystane Martell, Areo Hotah, High Sparrow, Septa Unella, Maggi the Frog, Lollys Stokeworth, Yezzan and The Waif. Other new characters to be introduced will be Varamyr Sixskins, Imogen and Grand Maester Pycelle.

Season 5 will focus on the wildings and King's Landings politics, reports IBT. It is said that the wildings will have a shadowcat, a snowbear and three wolves.

"Game of Thrones" is one of the highest performers in the TV series genre. Its average audience share is 52 percent. HBO president Michael Lombaro described "Game of Thrones as a "phenomenon like no other." He also said that "David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, along with their talented collaborators, continue to surpass themselves, and we look forward to more of their dazzling storytelling."
