Fast-paced action is coming to the Nintendo Switch as the shooting game "Furi" now has a specific release date for the hybrid console. The game will be available for the Nintendo Switch on January 11.

"Furi" was originally released in July 5, 2016 for Microsoft Windows and the PlayStation 4. It also got released for the Xbox One on Dec. 2, 2016.

It is a game that took elements from multiple genres and combined them to make one brand new take on gameplay.

One of its major aspects is its "bullet hell" style of gameplay. This style is recently popularized by Japanese games like the Touhou Project (which had shrine maiden characters dodging bullets and clearing stages to get a high score).

Bullet hell gameplay involves the player dodging raining bullets delivered in intricate patterns, while also trying to eliminate enemies.

"Furi" also emphasized boss fights, and bullet hell gameplay is a perfect match for that. There is a twist, however, in that aside from ranged combat, the player can also engage in melee fights with the enemy. This is why "Furi" is unique: it has hack-n-slash combat, bullet rain, and twin stick shooting all packaged in a retro neon style.

Beginners to the genre should be wary, as "Furi" will not simply be a walk in the park. The game boasts that it is "balanced to be challenging and demanding," so beating the whole game will most likely take hours and hours of practice.

This replayability is more emphasized now that the game is ported to the Nintendo Switch. With the console's mobility, players can engage in fights at their leisure.

Perhaps the only thing that "Furi" lacks is multiplayer support, as its Nintendo Switch page only lists it as a one-player game.

Players can own "Furi" for $19.99 when it becomes available next week. The game can be bought from  Nintendo Switch's official site.
