Fixed Point DVDs equip Christians in contemporary debate

Kingsway is now distributing the full range of DVDs from the highly acclaimed Fixed Point Foundation.

It says these DVDs represent an incredible opportunity to support churches as they engage in debates about the place of Christianity in contemporary society - although they admit they are nervous because it’s the first time we’ve put anything out with Professor Richard Dawkins on the cover!

Fixed Point Foundation is based in Birmingham, Alabama. The staff members are held together by a passionate faith in Jesus. But for Fixed Point that faith does not close their ears to the criticisms of others. Instead, Fixed Point has become one of the most intriguing underground Christian projects to have emerged in the last few years.

In brief, their aim is simple:
Fixed Point Foundation is committed to publicly defending Christianity through education, events, and the development of innovative resources that empower Christians and challenge skeptics.

In practice, that statement has led them to stage – and then film and release on DVD as well as the web – a series of debates between those who oppose and others who support Christianity. Professor Richard Dawkins (author of The God Delusion) and Christopher Hitchens (author of God Is Not Great) among others, line up opposite Professor John Lennox and Dinesh D’Souza (both popular Christian apologists), resulting in compelling viewing.

"We’re dedicated to the free and open exchange of ideas," explains Fixed Point, "and we’re confident that Christianity can hold its ground."

The six DVDs reflect the current topics debated in newspapers and bookstands today, as their titles imply: The God Delusion, Has Science Buried God?, God On Trial, Can Atheism Save Europe?, Is God Great? and lastly Science And The God Question.

These are a wonderful opportunity not only to see leading Atheist writers respond to the Christian message, but also to connect with others. Church screenings of these DVDs – where churches open up their doors to those who might not usually pass through them – will surely make a significant impact on communities.
