The next installment in the hugely popular point and click survival horror series, "Five Nights at Freddy's" was announced to be coming this Halloween.
Dubbed as "Five Nights at Freddy's 4: The Final Chapter", the title is also expected to be the last in the series of highly-successful puzzle and survival game from developer Scott Cawthon. The announcement came from the developer's website, where the Halloween launch date was revealed via by a teaser image of the game's iconic and hugely popular animatronic bear, Freddy Fazbear, done in a creepy color contrast and with Fazbear holding a tophat.
Aside from the launch date, no other details were provided on the website. Fans of the series, though, hope that updates would trickle down before the title's official launch.
The new title is the fourth instalment in the series, and its predecessor, "Five Nights at Freddy's 3", was released last March and is now available on Steam. The original game, released in the summer of 2014, dealt with players working the night shift in a restaurant occupied by animatronic robots. The inhabitants of the place were known to wander around at night and kill any one they come across. Players must then monitor these robots with cameras and use items to secure the security office against the wanderers. As time goes by, players then gradually find out the stories behind why these robots go on murderous rampages.
The original game, and the sequels that were released just within six months of the first, were breakout successes on both PC and mobile. The original title was ported into Android and iOS, and currently, the three titles for the "Five Night's at Freddy's" franchise are listed in iTune's top paid games. There is also a film adaptation to be made from the original title.
