Nintendo Switch users are waiting for the arrival of Square Enix's "Final Fantasy XV" on the console, even if the Japanese game studio has not yet confirmed that they are developing a version supported by the Switch. The good news is that game director Hajime Tabata is open to that possibility.

Square Enix's presence at Gamescom 2017 in Germany last August was anticipated by the "Final Fantasy XV" fans, especially those who were wanting to hear the good news; that the game would arrive on platforms other than the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Fortunately, the team was able to provide some information about the game's much-awaited Switch version.

In an interview with Kotaku, Tabata revealed that Square Enix is taking the "Final Fantasy XV" Nintendo Switch version into consideration. The game director even teased that a representative from Nintendo contacted him, although he did not disclose the full details of the conversation.

Nevertheless, Tabata feels like the Nintendo Switch has a great potential to run the latest "Final Fantasy" installment, and Square Enix is "open to looking for opportunities" with the said gaming platform.

If there is one problem at this point that is barring "Final Fantasy XV" from launching on Nintendo Switch, it would be the latter's capability to support the game. Tabata revealed in a separate interview with Dual Shockers that his team has already been running some tests with the Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, the game's full graphics potential cannot be supported by Nintendo's hybrid console yet.

To note, "Final Fantasy XV" was made through the Luminous Engine, which may not be handled very well by the Nintendo Switch. Although, Square Enix's other game engines, Unity and Unreal Engine 4, tested positive for a Switch support.

This means that the Japanese game studio's other game titles like "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" and "Life is Strange" can be brought to Nintendo's current console. As for "Final Fantasy XV," there is still more work to be done before the game can be ported to the Switch platform.

"Final Fantasy XV" is playable on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. While the Nintendo Switch version is still out of the picture, players are looking forward to the game's arrival on the PC platform in early 2018.
