The month of August is coming to a close and yet no official release date has yet been announced for mod support for "Fallout 4" on the PlayStation 4. PC and Xbox One owners have been enjoying mod support since the early half of the year and Bethesda Softworks has now addressed the delays.

"Until evaluation is done there is no way to give a date. We don't have a date when eval will be done," explained the company's Vice President of Marketing, Pete Hines, on Twitter, when he was asked when PS4 owners would be getting mod support.

A report from the IBTimes points out that "Fallout 4" is going to be the very first PS4 game to support mods and as such the game requires a high level of testing to ensure bugs and glitches are kept to a minimum. Mod support for "Fallout 4" will also serve as the testing grounds for the upcoming "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Special Edition."

The report forther points out that many fans speculate the Operating System of the PlayStation 4 may be the cause for the optimization issues and concerns given that it is far different from the traditional Windows OS run on PC or the OS run on Xbox One.

It is also widely speculated that Bethesda is working on additional optimization due to the upcoming release of the PlayStation 4 Neo, an upgraded version of the PS4 that comes with 4K resolution support and improved hardware that allows for smoother framerates.

Gamespot reports that Hines made a similar statement back on Aug. 1, confirming that the developers could not give any release date for PS4 mod support until evaluation had been completed. It is further stated that PS4 mod support was initially going to launch in June but was pushed back when the developers discovered bugs and other problems.
