R&B singer Faith Evans attended the BET Awards last weekend, and was asked how she felt about rumors surrounding her son CJ's sexuality.

CJ posted a photo to his Instagram account on May 29 showing him standing behind a male classmate, and holding him by the waist. Some gossip writers questioned the 17-year-old's sexual orientation.

Blogger Sandra Rose tweeted: "#GayPride: Christopher Wallace & @FaithEvans' Son CJ Graduates," on June 2. Evans responded with an explicit tweet.

At the 2014 BET Awards, a red carpet reporter asked her about the controversy.

"I don't really feel a way about it," she told Global Grind.

"We know what [CJ] is. If he was [gay], I would support him and love him just the same."

CJ's Instagram photo has since been deleted.

After Rose and other bloggers posted responses to the controversial photo, CJ tweeted that the picture was a joke.

"Lm**o n***** took that picture way too serious," he posted on June 2.

He also retweeted a girl's post with emoticons laughing so hard they are crying. "They are say [sic] Cee Jay is gay," the girl wrote.

"They got me *'d up," CJ added, with another crying emoticon attached.

Christopher Wallace Jr., or CJ, is the son of Evans and the late Christopher Wallace, known as the Notorious B.I.G. Evans has three other children, and Wallace had two others before he was murdered in 1997.

Gossip blogs also questioned the sexual orientation of singer-songwriter R. Kelly's teen, Jay, who was born a female named Jaya. Jay is transgender, and identifies as a male.

"I believe I am a boy and want surgery, and the medication to help me [be] who I was supposed to be," he wrote on his Ask.fm page last month.

Jay, 14, says he has identified as a male since he was "six or seven" years old.
