Everlasting God €“ Yfriday releases its 'Very Best of'

Seventeen years is a long time, especially when you’ve got the energy, the heart and the inspiration of Yfriday.

So there’s not surprises in store when you discover that their final release – Everlasting God – The Very Best of Yfriday – is an amped-up, 28-track, bumper double CD.

Everlasting God draws on a remarkable career that has spanned seventeen years. From the early days working with the likes of British Youth For Christ, hosting monthly outreach and worship events in their home town of Newcastle, it was always obvious that something significant was about to emerge over the horizon.

Early days saw the band and their extended-family of singers, shouters and supporters bouncing around to the beats of firework guitars and skyscraping drums. They were good days – the right music for the right time – and the passion continued through the years.

With the album Great And Glorious the band became what was right for later years: a collection of believers, putting words and tunes to the truths they are discovering about God. And this became their promise; to lead us a little closer, shine the light a little brighter and raise the bar still higher for worship bands of the day.

Of the many remarkable things that did take place, the one that so many people think of first is the title track of the album, Everlasting God. Singer/songwriter Ken Riley became the first Christian artist to receive an ASCAP Award for his co-write with Brenton Brown on the song – a track which burned its way into the subconscious of millions of Christians the world over and has become one of the top twenty most played songs in the USA.

Everlasting God features all the band’s greatest songs, from the intimate truth of a personal revelation of God in ‘Saviour and Friend’ to ‘Come Let Us Worship’, as strong a call to worship as you could ever hope to hear to ‘Revolution’, which became their live anthem. All along throughout this double cd you can hear the result of the band constantly witnessing God in action, as Ken explains:

"We’ve seen over 15,000 people become Christians, tons healed and many thousands have encountered God in a new way for the first time. We worshipped our way through different generations, and it’s been a fascinating, incredible privilege."
