England will play Estonia on Friday in a Euro 2016 qualifier from Wembley Stadium in London. On paper this should be a straight forward win for England, but Estonia would like nothing more than to cause an upset if England do not perform. England have already comfortably qualified from Group E of the Euro 2016 qualifiers with eight wins from eight games and that means manager Roy Hodgson has a chance to experiment a little more, although running up to next year's tournament he will also know how important it is to establish a tight knit core team that is used to playing together with consistency.
Their opposition Estonia have had a mixed campaign and sit in fourth place in the group of six, having won three of their eight game so far, drawing one and losing four others. They still have a chance of finishing in third place in the group, but their chance is slipping away as they are still two points behind third place Slovenia with just two games each to go, and Estonia are expected to lose here today to England.
In team news, England midfielder Michael Carrick has been declared fit to play for England today. There were concerns after Carrick was forced to sit out training on Thursday with a slight groin strain, but the extra rest seems to have done the trick and he is in contention to play today if needed.
But England will be without skipper Wayne Rooney and Liverpool forward Danny Ings; both of whom have been ruled out with ankle injuries.
Hodgson has said ahead of today's game that he does not plan to use the final two games of their Euro 2016 qualifiers as dead rubbers or practices, but will field "very strong" teams.
He has denied that England will switch to experimental mode or just cap fringe players, insisting that England have experimented enough over the past year or so, and now he wants to build consistency and a good understanding between his squad players.
Hodgson has said, "We are not in an experimental mode, we think we've done enough experimenting. We think we do know what we want to do, we think we know the players who are capable of helping us to do what we want to do."
