EMI Distributes Narnia DVD to Christian Retail

Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media presents C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe on DVD April 4, with CBA distribution through EMI CMG.

"It is an honor to be a part of delivering Disney's The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe to CBA," said Greg Bays, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for EMI CMG Distribution. "The release of the Narnia DVD is gearing up to be 'the' traffic-driving force of the first half—if not of the entire year for CBA retailers. Our retail partners have shown great support for all things Narnia throughout the last six to nine months, and have delivered very strong sales results since marketing began for the film, the books, the CDs, and related Narnia merchandise. Since announcing this DVD release, we have seen CBA retailers create aggressive plans focused on offering their customers a unique Narnia buying experience. The DVD is allowing the opportunity to provide family entertainment in keeping with their values and mission as CBA store owners. These accounts have delivered an exceptional level of marketing support."

The $280 million USA box office triumph, and Walt Disney Pictures’ third highest grossing live-action film of all time, will be available as a single-disc DVD with outstanding bonus features, and as a Special Two-Disc Collector’s Edition DVD.

The Special Edition takes viewers on a deeper adventure into the world of Narnia with nearly ten hours of bonus features – including a behind-the-scenes tour with the film’s child stars, director’s diary, “cinematic storytellers” film diaries, multiple audio commentaries, 3-D map, interactive timeline, featurettes on the creatures and much more.

"The continuation of the Narnia relationship into DVD distribution is a natural one for EMI CMG with Walt Disney Studios and Walden Media,” commented Greg Ham, Executive Vice President, Business Development, EMI CMG. “We have journeyed over a year now with Walt Disney Studios on the Narnia brand through both the film release and the music inspired by project, and now Buena Vista Home Entertainment for the DVD release. We are excited to be able to offer the DVD to our retail partners, and feel this will be a fantastic opportunity for our CBA partners to drive traffic into their stores around the Easter/Spring season."
