"Elementary" season 5 will see the return of Fiona, played by actress Betty Gilpin. She made her debut back in season 4 and over the course of the succeeding episodes, had forged a strong romantic relationship with Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller), a relationship that will further be explored in season 5.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Rob Doherty explained that the character was not going to be present in the first few episodes, but it won't be long until she pops up again. It is heavily hinted that she and Sherlock are still dating, given that in their last encounter they had consummated their relationship after reaffirming their feelings for each other.

"We certainly owe a status report for the Sherlock/Fiona relationship," Doherty stated. "In the first few episodes there won't be much mention of her, but we are working on a return for Betty Gilpin. Fiona is a thread that we won't let dangle too long, especially considering how much we love Betty," the EP added.

It is further stated that she is confirmed to be in at least one episode, which will air in November. It is uncertain if she will have further appearances in the show and later become a more recurring character or if this will be the episode where she finally breaks it off with Sherlock.

The IBTimes points out that they had met in order to aid each other in a case and were drawn romantically to each other because they were both socially awkward, with Fiona described as a "fully functional autistic" who has difficulty reading other people.

In season 4 they had been dating for several weeks, starting from the time they met in episode 9 and until Fiona's final appearance in episode 18, which is when they slept together. It is possible that season 5 will pick up immediately after or weeks following their time together.

"Elementary" season 5 is scheduled to premiere on Oct. 2 on CBS.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
